A workshop with Gernot Huber at YogaOosten in Enschede, Sept 16- 17 2017
Yoga has the power to transform your body and your mind, enabling you to lead a happier, healthier and more meaningful life. But what you emphasize when you practice yoga will determine whether you are maximizing or minimizing its extraordinary benefits.
Using mainly Anusara, Forrest, and lyengarYoga techniques, this workshop will teach you how to maximize the benefits of yoga while learning to let go of detrimental behavior patterns that can creep into your practice. You will also learn specific yoga techniques to address chronic health conditions such as back pain, poor posture, poor circulation, chronic stress, insomnia, constipation, neck tension, depression, low energy, arthritis, and osteoporosis.
Sessions (all sessions can be taken individually):
- Saturday 9:30-12:30: Developing a spacious spine for improved posture, breath, circulation, and mood (postural analysis and standing poses, backbends, forward bends, and optionally inversions)
- Saturday 14:30-17:30: Improving strength and balance for increased stamina and improved bone health (standing poses and balancing poses, and optionally arm balances)
- Sunday 9:30-12:30: Creating a radiant core to reduce back pain and improve digestion, sleep, and energy (core work including twists, core strenghteners, and core stretches)
- Sunday 14:30-17:30: Enhancing flexibility and practicing surrender for joint health and stress reduction (hip and shoulder openers, plus restorative yoga)
A regular yoga practice of at least a few months. It is not necessary that you have ever come into an inversion (headstand, handstand, shoulderstand) or an arm balance to attend the first two sessions of this workshop, as we will cover the basics, and alternative poses will be offered. The workshop is also recommended for intermediate and advanced students who want to make their practice safer and more effective.
